Case Studies: Improving Businesses’ Security needs with Steel Security Doors

Are you considering having a steel security door installed at your business premises but not sure if your space is too tricky or difficult?

Here at Thornhill, we have over 50 years’ experience in helping customers improve their security. Whether it’s protecting valuable items, safeguarding sensitive areas, or ensuring staff safety, having robust and secure entry and exit points are vital. Steel security doors do just this and can be fitted both externally and internally.

Read on below for some case studies of how we’ve helped a variety of organisations to improve their business security with steel security doors.

Case Study 1: High-end Engineering Company

Creating a Secure Internal Area

A high-end engineering company came to Thornhill Security with the requirement to section off a part of a corridor and create a secure entrance to their parts department. With high ceilings, there was the additional challenge to make the door taller than usual to deter and prevent unauthorised users from climbing over the door.

Solution:

  • We installed a custom-built frame up to the height of 2 metres
  • The frame incorporated a panel above the door to ensure the door could not be scaled
  • Door and panels were sprayed the same colour creating a smart and robust-looking security door.

Outcome: The client was highly satisfied with the end result. The door resolved their security situation and prevented unauthorised individuals from gaining access to the parts department.

Case Study 2: Church

Enhancing Staff Safety & Security of Valuable Items

We were approached by a church which housed many precious and valuable books within its library in the church office. The space could be accessed by an existing, but very old strongroom door. However, the door no longer closed properly and posed a real risk to staff when working in the library of being shut in, if the door accidentally closed.

Strong door 1 CS2

Solution:

  • After visiting the premises, the Thornhill Security team suggested that the strongroom door could be replaced with a new steel security door with a 1-hour fire protection rating.
  • The old strongroom door was removed but the frame was kept in place.
  • The new steel door was fitted into the existing frame.

Outcome: The new security door provides the church with the security and fire protection it needs for the valuable books. But just as important, staff now have peace of mind that they are not going to get locked in and can easily go in and out of the space without anxiety, using the new steel door which is much lighter and user-friendly than the previous strongroom door.

Case Study 3: Ex-Warehouse

Improving Entrance Security for Office Staff

A former warehouse converted into office space had an entrance that was set within an alcove and was becoming a security concern for staff. The entrance way was not visible from the road and therefore made it more susceptible to possible break-ins and made employees feel unsafe.

Ex-Warehouse 1 SC3

Solution:

  • The Thornhill Security team recommended that they bring the whole entrance door forward in-line with the wall so that the alcove no longer existed.
  • We fitted smart black, powder-coated steel security doors that looked sleek and smart.
  • The top panel was custom-designed to fit the archway and painted the same colour to give a professional and robust appearance.

Outcome:

Our client was very pleased with the end result.

The entrance looks really professional and staff are much happier entering and leaving the building.
