Recent media coverage has highlighted a rise in burglaries being committed by criminals using a technique called “lock snapping”. So what is Lock-Snapping and what can you do about it?
The technique involves applying force and snapping the cylinder in two, mainly prevalent with euro-cylinder locks. Figures for December 2011 show that 27% of all burglaries across the UK involved lock snapping on euro cylinders. Unfortunately, information about lock breaking and various other methods, such as bumping, drilling and plug extraction, is now common knowledge via videos on the internet.
